Fashion Weeks: Need To Know Spring/Summer 22/23
We love fashion shows, you love fashion shows, and therefore, we are here with another blog on the insights of the biggest and most awaited fashion shows from the Holy places of Fashion - Paris, New York, London, and Milan.
We will do the strenuous task of collecting the best of the looks of the fashion shows for Spring Summer 2022, and you enjoy reading this blog with a glass of wine, because “we do it in style”.
So let’s get started.
1 Paris Fashion Week -
Paris is the unrivalled capital of fashion. So with this fashion show, we will start our journey of telling you about what fresh is in the fashion industry.
Sarah Burton -
After 18 months, we saw Sarah Burton on the ramp and what a comeback it has made. Inspired by Weather, the gowns were named “Blue Sky”, “Stormy Sky”, and “Nightfall”, this collection is all about the East London vibes with net skirts, tailored jackets and long coats.
Lacoste -
As is widely known for this brand, all things sports are what Lacoste stands for. And again in the Spring-Summer 2022 collection, the ramp was yet again colourful with sporty couture. Jerseys and wide pleated skirts were revamped and made extra fashionable. Layered looks and mix-matched pieces stole the show.
Louis Vuitton -
Even Though this brand is not the one people turn to for inspiration when it comes to clothing, this year we saw a change in the very famous accessories brand’s couture range. With gowns that reminded us of the 70s, to the futuristic appeal of the skirts that the models daunted, the vibrant flow of style and the joyful dressing was seen through the styles of Louis Vuitton.
2 New York Fashion Week -
The New York fashion week always had a back-to-school vibe, but this year as we again got on to the ramp after a long time, we saw the unexpected.
Dazzling gowns, studded co-ord sets, and sweater dresses stole the show from the fanciful collection of Zimmermann. The creative head called the collection "appreciation of power and athleticism." High heels with blazers and vests, tulle skirts, and ruched bodices were styled with chunky leather boots and we are in awe.
Florals were spotted in full glory. We also saw feather evening gowns making a comeback. Oscar de la Renta paid an ode to the New York city vibe with these styles.
Other than this, we witnessed the New York fashion week collection by designers who believe in the concept of - “Fashion is Art.” It was a collection worth seeing and taking inspiration from.
3 London Fashion Week -
London Fashion Week has only one motto - to present great fashion, and it did exactly that in the Spring Summer collection 2022.
Burberry was all about Reinvention this time. With the idea of Freedom of Imagination, this collection brought to the ramp printed swimsuits, chain embellishments, raw hems, along with its iconic Trench Coat. Both cosiness in the form of dresses and tops, and cutouts, sheer looks were witnessed.
If there is someone who knows Colours and Prints the best, it has to be Richard Quinn. Even in his latest collection he has played around with the colours and prints. The exaggeration of the IRL- clothing was delightful to watch. The silhouettes were interesting and were based on the concept of “More is more”.
Playing with textures, structures and volume, we saw JW Anderson giving yet another stunning collection that he said was “sexy style for smart girls.” A hot pink dress just like one worn by Barbie, knit top with mushroom cloud miniskirt, slip dress with tassels, and a lot of “dare to wear proportion”.
4 Milano Fashion Week -
Being the Mecca of Fashion, Milan Fashion week has its vibe and charm. Let’s see what all it offered for the Spring-Summer 2022.
With delicate gowns, pink satin tuxedos, sequins, and coats as big as egos, Gucci has set the tone for Spring Summer 2022 to be Greek divinity inspired, along with a touch of powers of superheroes, for the people of Hollywood.
With a black and white palette with hints of orange and Bottega green, Bottega Veneta presented the street sporty style. The collection was inspired from the 90s, with halter necks and sparkly little dresses, shirt and skirt sets, and not to miss out on Bodycon one shoulder and short dresses. Basically, this collection was for people who like to party all night on techno beats.
Our list is incomplete without mentioning Versace by Fendi. The collection gave the Parallel Fashion Universe vibe. Fendi, Versace, and Jones came together to present a collection that was a celebration of Italian fashion. Oh, the prints and silhouettes were commendable and very Versace style.
In all the fashion shows that happened in 2021, we saw that the designers let their creative juices flow and took inspiration from a lot of areas. A focal point in all these collections was sustainability. It was always a matter of great importance for all the top-class brands to also not cause harm to the environment in their way of moving forward.
